Islam had very brilliant people studying certain subjects. Many people from all over the world came to Baghdad to study at their learning center. Why did people go there? After all, they had invented algebra, they studied medicine and had hospitals, and even studied space. With all of those subjects they have learned, more people came in to introduce new concepts. The Islamic people also created numbers.
Religion and Worship
The weekly communal prayer for Muslims is a very important part of worship. There are a couple things Muslims do in order to pray and successfully worship/praise their god, Allah.
- Shoes: Muslims must take off their shoes before worship, it is holy ground.
- Wudu: The practice of washing hands before prayer.
- Men and Women pray seperately.
- Hijab: The Hijab is a head dress worn by women to show respect, usually worn around men and in public.
- Imam: The name given to the teacher who tells of the prayers.
- Niche: Not to be mistaken with the scientific term, a niche in Islam is the direction facing the city of Mecca.
